People aren't begging me to come out with a new album, I don't have ahugely successful makeup brand, and I didn't have the self-restraint to wait nearly a week into the new year to take a selfie. But Rihanna's newmakeup-free selfierevealed something wedohave in common: She's got a zit near her jawline, just like me. And I'm trying to adopt her pimple-positive attitude.
Posting the photo to bothInstagramandTwitteron Monday, Rihanna wrote, "First selfie of the year doe. #2020." In it, she's looking unsurprisingly adorable with braids wrapped up high on her head, a black hoodie, and the tiniest hint of lip gloss. Other than that, she seems to be wearing no makeup — not evenFenty Pro Filt'r Concealer, as evidenced by a reddish spot hanging out where her cheek meets her chin. And you know what? That zit is cute as hell.
Initially, Rihanna didn't mention the breakout, and plenty of fans commented on how fresh-faced she looks in the photo. But when one commenter on Instagram felt compelled to say, "Let me pop your pimple," Rihanna replied in the most perfect way: "Let her have her shine, PLEASE."

Once Rihanna declared her pimple positivity, fans on Twitter felt emboldened to share their own zits. "Oh my god rihanna and i are fully vibing today and i believe it is because we have a massive zit in the same spot,"one person wrote, complete with side-by-side comparison photos. "Me and Rihanna have the same zit rn so I’m feeling pretty good about 2020,"another said, while yet another fan wrote, "OMG rihanna and I have a zit on the same part of our face at the same time what does this mean."
At the very least, it means Rihanna just helped make 2020 the year of feeling pretty good about having a pimple.
